Ferguson Family Farm is a family-owned Gippsland business built around a simple idea: healthy landscapes are productive, resilient landscapes.
Our approach combines practical farming and livestock experience with formal environmental education. We hold a Master of Environment and Sustainability, and training in Master of Urban Horticulture, alongside hands-on experience managing land and livestock and more than 24 years of experience working in healthcare, where solving complex problems, managing risk and making sound decisions under pressure have been central to our work.
After many years in healthcare, we chose to apply those skills in a different way—combining practical experience with further study to focus on land management, regenerative agriculture and healthier landscapes.
Our primary focus is targeted goat grazing for weed and vegetation management. We use the natural browsing behaviour of goats to tackle vegetation in a practical, targeted way, including on steep and difficult-to-access properties. Where appropriate, grazing can form part of a broader approach to revegetation, biodiversity improvement and long-term landscape regeneration.
We work with landowners, farmers, councils, Landcare groups and Catchment Management Authorities, providing practical solutions that are grounded in both real-world experience and environmental knowledge.

Our goats are regularly observed by experienced staff to ensure their health, safety, and continued effectiveness in vegetation control. Our goats are employees, not livestock.
We deploy robust temporary fencing and ensure constant access to fresh water and natural shade, prioritizing animal welfare.
